The double trailer coupling ball is suitable for a secure and reliable connection between vehicle and trailer. The ball diameter is 50 mm, while the screw hole spacing of 90 mm and a drill hole diameter of 17 mm enable simple and precise installation. With a maximum trailer load of 3500 kg and a drawbar load of 350 kg, the coupling fulfils high requirements in terms of load capacity and stability. The distance from the centre of the ball to the end of the flange plate is approx. 107 mm, which ensures an optimum fit. The tow ball is E11-tested and therefore fulfils the relevant safety standards. With a tensile force of D20.2 kN, it offers additional safety for demanding applications. Made from high-quality material and with a silver finish, the tow ball is robust and durable. The matching fastening bolts are included in the scope of delivery to ensure quick and safe installation.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Ball head on the towing vehicle: The new ball head has a diameter of 50 mm; the wear limit is 49 mm. Measure in several directions using a calliper — the ball wears down in an oval shape, and even a single point measuring less than 49 mm means it needs replacing.
Tow ball coupling on the trailer: Signs include noticeable play on the ball, rattling whilst driving, or a coupling that no longer engages properly. Many couplings have a wear indicator on the handle — if the pointer is in the red zone, it needs replacing.
Assess both together: a new coupling fitted to a worn-out ball will continue to rattle.
Lubrication: The ball and coupling wear out much faster if left dry. An important exception is anti-sway couplings: their friction linings must remain grease-free; in this case, only the ball is cleaned. Grease on the linings renders the anti-sway damping ineffective and ruins the linings.
A worn-out pair will be flagged during the annual general inspection. Replacement: Ball couplings and accessories.
