Benefits and fields of application
The CARLISLE Farm Specialist I-1 is ideal for agricultural trailers, grassland equipment, yard and horticultural machinery as well as other towing and transport applications in the agricultural sector. The AW tread ensures good ground conformity and protects the turf, making it particularly suitable for use on meadows, pastures and sensitive green areas.
The 8PR carcass gives the tyre a high load capacity of up to 1450 kg and good resistance to damage, as frequently encountered in tough everyday agricultural work. With a speed index B, the tyre is designed for speeds of up to 50 km/h and thus reliably covers typical transport and working speeds in agriculture. The TL (tubeless) construction facilitates mounting, reduces the risk of punctures caused by tube damage and contributes to an overall low-maintenance operation.
Explanation of technical terms
- TL (Tubeless): Tubeless tyre that is mounted without an inner tube on a suitable rim. Offers a lower risk of punctures due to tube defects and simplifies mounting.
- PR (Ply Rating): Indicates the carcass strength or load capacity class of the tyre. A higher PR value (here 8PR) stands for a more robust construction and higher load capacity.
- LI (Load Index): Load index 121 indicates the maximum permissible load capacity of the tyre at the correct inflation pressure; here this corresponds to 1450 kg per tyre.
- SI (Speed Index): Speed index B defines the maximum permissible speed for which the tyre is designed; in this case 50 km/h.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Age: Trailer tyres age more as a result of being left stationary than from the number of kilometres travelled. It is advisable to replace them after around six years, even if the tread is still in good condition; for trailers approved for 100 km/h, this is mandatory. The date of manufacture is shown as a DOT number on the sidewall: 3223 means the 32nd calendar week of 2023.
Load capacity (Load Index, LI): The number before the letter indicates the load capacity per tyre. The fitted tyre must meet at least the value stated in the vehicle documents — a higher value is permitted, but a lower one is not.

Speed index: The letter following the load index indicates the maximum permitted speed. An ‘L’ is required for a 100 km/h rating.

Winter tyres: There is no requirement for winter tyres on trailers, as the wheels are not driven. An M+S or Alpine symbol is not required.
Tyre pressure: Trailer tyres require significantly higher pressure than car tyres. The correct pressure is specified in the vehicle documents or on the sticker on the trailer. Insufficient pressure is the most common cause of tyre damage.
Tread depth: the legal minimum is 1.6 mm. You can also recognise old tyres by fine cracks in the sidewall and tread base.
Replacement: Tyres and complete wheels.
