The universal tow ball coupling SPP ZSK BC 2000 version C is a reliable solution for trailers with a permissible gross weight of up to 2300 kg and a permissible drawbar load of up to 100 kg. Made from galvanised steel, it offers a robust and durable solution. The coupling has an integrated wear indicator that makes it easy to check its condition. It is compatible with drawbars in diameters of 35, 40, 45 and 50 mm, with corresponding adapters included in the scope of delivery. Holes for cross and horizontal screw connections are available for installation, with hole spacings of 40 mm and 54 mm respectively. The holes have a diameter of 12.5 mm and the required screws and nuts are also included in the set. Thanks to the practical one-hand operation with integrated safety catch in the handle, the coupling can be handled easily and safely.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Ball head on the towing vehicle: The new ball head has a diameter of 50 mm; the wear limit is 49 mm. Measure in several directions using a calliper — the ball wears down in an oval shape, and even a single point measuring less than 49 mm means it needs replacing.
Tow ball coupling on the trailer: Signs include noticeable play on the ball, rattling whilst driving, or a coupling that no longer engages properly. Many couplings have a wear indicator on the handle — if the pointer is in the red zone, it needs replacing.
Assess both together: a new coupling fitted to a worn-out ball will continue to rattle.
Lubrication: The ball and coupling wear out much faster if left dry. An important exception is anti-sway couplings: their friction linings must remain grease-free; in this case, only the ball is cleaned. Grease on the linings renders the anti-sway damping ineffective and ruins the linings.
