Benefits and application
The DURO HF-255 is ideal for tractors and ride-on mowers in agricultural and horticultural environments where a combination of soil protection and traction is required. The tread pattern ensures secure grip at low speeds, as typically encountered in yard and field operations. Thanks to the 4PR carcass, the tyre offers good stability while maintaining a moderate own weight.
The tyre is designed as TL (tubeless) and can be mounted without an inner tube, which reduces maintenance effort and susceptibility to punctures. With a load capacity of up to 807 kg and a permissible maximum speed of 15 km/h, it is optimally suited for work machines operating at low speeds.
Explanation of technical terms
- TL (Tubeless): Tubeless tyre that is mounted directly on the rim without a separate inner tube.
- TT (Tube Type): Designates tyres that are used with a separate inner tube (mentioned here for distinction only, this tyre is TL).
- PR (Ply Rating): Indicates the load capacity class of the carcass. A higher PR number stands for a more robust construction and higher load capacity.
- SI (Speed Index): Indicates the maximum permissible speed for which the tyre is designed. A3 here corresponds to a maximum speed of 15 km/h.
- Load capacity: Maximum load that a tyre can safely carry at the specified air pressure and speed.
- Rim size: Refers to the rim diameter on which the tyre is mounted (here 12 inch).
Frequently asked questions about this product
Age: Trailer tyres age more as a result of being left stationary than from the number of kilometres travelled. It is advisable to replace them after around six years, even if the tread is still in good condition; for trailers approved for 100 km/h, this is mandatory. The date of manufacture is shown as a DOT number on the sidewall: 3223 means the 32nd calendar week of 2023.
Load capacity (Load Index, LI): The number before the letter indicates the load capacity per tyre. The fitted tyre must meet at least the value stated in the vehicle documents — a higher value is permitted, but a lower one is not.

Speed index: The letter following the load index indicates the maximum permitted speed. An ‘L’ is required for a 100 km/h rating.

Winter tyres: There is no requirement for winter tyres on trailers, as the wheels are not driven. An M+S or Alpine symbol is not required.
Tyre pressure: Trailer tyres require significantly higher pressure than car tyres. The correct pressure is specified in the vehicle documents or on the sticker on the trailer. Insufficient pressure is the most common cause of tyre damage.
Tread depth: the legal minimum is 1.6 mm. You can also recognise old tyres by fine cracks in the sidewall and tread base.
Replacement: Tyres and complete wheels.
