Product.Nr.: 990017839
Manufacturer:
- Genuine AL-KO spindle nut for extendable and levelling supports
- Connection size M20 and spindle bore 17 mm
- Reference number 35786410
- Supplied complete with screws for a neat replacement
The AL-KO spindle nut 20/17 mm is a precise-fit replacement for the extension or levelling strut on trailers. It is used when the existing spindle nut is overloaded, worn, warped or no longer runs smoothly in the strut. Thanks to the correct spindle diameter and the appropriate mounting dimension, the support and levelling unit continues to function reliably. The version depends on the spindle diameter and the mounting hole diameter of the levelling support; for this variant, the connection size is M20 with a 17 mm spindle bore. The connection size M20 refers to the corresponding dimension on the support, whilst the 17 mm spindle bore indicates the diameter of the spindle.
The spindle nut is supplied complete with screws, so that assembly can take place immediately after the nut has been fitted. The original AL-KO product is suitable for trailers, caravans, motorhomes and other commercial vehicles with a compatible extendable support, where the levelling support is being replaced or repaired. Please check the dimensions against your existing support before purchasing to ensure you select the correct version.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Three factors are key:
- Tube diameter — measured on the support wheel’s tube, not on the bracket. Common sizes are 35, 48 and 60 mm. It’s best to check with a calliper: a 48 mm support wheel won’t fit into a 60 mm bracket.
- Load capacity — this must match your trailer’s tongue load. A support wheel that is not strong enough will bend or become impossible to crank under load.
- Design — automatic jockey wheels fold in automatically when the trailer is coupled; basic models are cranked up by hand and locked into place.
Go straight to the right size: 48 mm jockey wheels, 60 mm jockey wheels or the full overview.
Common mistakes: ordering the wrong tube diameter; failing to crank the jockey wheel fully up or lock it in place before setting off; the clamp being too loose. A jockey wheel that spins freely can quickly cause damage on the motorway.
When it’s worth replacing: a worn-out wheel, a stiff crank, or a worn-out spindle. In most cases, a complete training wheel is cheaper than buying the parts separately.
