Installation and safety instructions:
- the piston rod must always point downwards
- the gas springs must not be tilted and must only be loaded lengthwise
- gas springs are under high pressure. Please do not open under any circumstances.

Our gas spring calculator finds the right gas spring for your flap, lid or trailer ramp: simply enter the dimensions and weight – the tool calculates the recommended extension force F1, the order length and the mounting points, including an interactive sketch and simulation.
- Select how it opens: ramp folds down (e.g. horse trailer tailgate), flap opens from bottom to top, or lid opens upwards (e.g. storage box, bonnet).
- Describe the flap: length, width, thickness and weight – the weight can be calculated automatically from the dimensions and material (wood, plastic, aluminium, steel etc.). Plus opening angle, number of gas springs (a pair is recommended) and the desired operating force.
- Mounting points: for a replacement spring, three measurements taken with the flap closed are enough: the eye-to-eye length of the installed spring (which is also the order length!) plus dimensions B and C from the hinge centre. For a new installation, the tool automatically suggests the best points.
- Result: recommended force F1 per spring, overall length, required stroke and all mounting dimensions (incl. 10 % safety margin) – with a printable mounting sketch and matching gas springs from our range.
