Benefits and applications
This tyre and tube set is ideal for applications where moderate loads of up to 70 kg per wheel are moved. Typical areas of use include wheelbarrows, hand trucks, light transport carts, garden and yard equipment as well as smaller industrial applications with low speeds up to 16 km/h.
The 2PR construction offers a good balance between weight and flexibility and is particularly suitable for soft to medium-firm surfaces. The S-2303 tread pattern ensures reliable traction and stable handling. Thanks to the TT design with separate tube, the tyre is easy to mount and maintain; minor damage can often be quickly remedied by replacing the tube. The JS87 angled valve makes inflation easier, even where space around the rim is limited.
Explanation of technical terms
- TT (Tube Type): Tyre with a separate inner tube, as opposed to TL (Tubeless), which are used without a tube.
- PR (Ply Rating): Ply Rating indicates the load capacity class of the carcass. A higher number stands for a more robust design.
- Rim size: Indicates the rim diameter in inches, here 4 inch.
- Load capacity: Maximum load that a tyre can safely carry at the correct air pressure.
- Tyre pressure (bar): Recommended operating pressure, important for load capacity, ride comfort and service life.
- Max. speed: Maximum speed for which the tyre is designed, here 16 km/h.
- Valve type JS87: Special angled valve type that allows easy inflation and is frequently used on small tyres in industrial and garden applications.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Age: Trailer tyres age more as a result of being left stationary than from the number of kilometres travelled. It is advisable to replace them after around six years, even if the tread is still in good condition; for trailers approved for 100 km/h, this is mandatory. The date of manufacture is shown as a DOT number on the sidewall: 3223 means the 32nd calendar week of 2023.
Load capacity (Load Index, LI): The number before the letter indicates the load capacity per tyre. The fitted tyre must meet at least the value stated in the vehicle documents — a higher value is permitted, but a lower one is not.

Speed index: The letter following the load index indicates the maximum permitted speed. An ‘L’ is required for a 100 km/h rating.
| Index | km/h | Index | km/h | Index | km/h |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| J | 100 | M | 130 | Q | 160 |

Winter tyres: There is no requirement for winter tyres on trailers, as the wheels are not driven. An M+S or Alpine symbol is not required.
Tyre pressure: Trailer tyres require significantly higher pressure than car tyres. The correct pressure is specified in the vehicle documents or on the sticker on the trailer. Insufficient pressure is the most common cause of tyre damage.
Tread depth: the legal minimum is 1.6 mm. You can also recognise old tyres by fine cracks in the sidewall and tread base.
Replacement: Tyres and complete wheels.
