Benefits and application
The CARLISLE Turf Master 16x7.50-8 is specially designed for lawn mowers and ride-on mowers used in garden and park maintenance. Its tread offers a balanced combination of traction and protection of the grass surface, making it ideal for sports fields, parks, large gardens and municipal green areas.
The 4PR construction ensures a robust carcass with good resistance to impacts and loads in daily use. With a load index of 67 and a load capacity of 307 kg, the tyre is suitable for many common lawn mowers and small utility machines. The recommended tyre pressure of 1.7 bar and the maximum speed of 20 km/h are optimally matched to typical mowing and maintenance work.
Explanation of technical terms
- TL (Tubeless): Indicates a tubeless tyre that is mounted directly on the rim without a separate inner tube.
- PR (Ply Rating): Indicates the load capacity class of the carcass. 4PR corresponds to a reinforced yet still comfortable construction for light to medium-duty applications.
- Load index (LI): Numerical code for the maximum load capacity of the tyre. LI 67 corresponds to a maximum load capacity of 307 kg per tyre.
- Speed index (SI): Letter code for the maximum permissible speed. A4 stands for a maximum speed of 20 km/h.
- Rim size: Indicates the rim diameter in inches (inch) on which the tyre is mounted – here 8 inch.
- Tyre pressure: The recommended operating pressure in bar, here 1.7 bar, ensures optimum load capacity, driving comfort and wear behaviour.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Age: Trailer tyres age more as a result of being left stationary than from the number of kilometres travelled. It is advisable to replace them after around six years, even if the tread is still in good condition; for trailers approved for 100 km/h, this is mandatory. The date of manufacture is shown as a DOT number on the sidewall: 3223 means the 32nd calendar week of 2023.
Load capacity (Load Index, LI): The number before the letter indicates the load capacity per tyre. The fitted tyre must meet at least the value stated in the vehicle documents — a higher value is permitted, but a lower one is not.

Winter tyres: There is no requirement for winter tyres on trailers, as the wheels are not driven. An M+S or Alpine symbol is not required.
Tyre pressure: Trailer tyres require significantly higher pressure than car tyres. The correct pressure is specified in the vehicle documents or on the sticker on the trailer. Insufficient pressure is the most common cause of tyre damage.
Tread depth: the legal minimum is 1.6 mm. You can also recognise old tyres by fine cracks in the sidewall and tread base.
Replacement: Tyres and complete wheels.
